MY STORY

​Sheng Raymond Liao is a software and game developer who is serious about the quality of the works he makes. He has been devoting to interactive media over 8 years, since he started learning Digital Game Design in Game Technology Direction at the School of Animation and Digital Arts of Communication University of China. There he succeeded creating his undergrad thesis and landmark work, Newborn, a two-screens-interaction art adventure game, with the two other talented artists.

After earning a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree, he contributed to the development of a mobile MMORPG (shipped) for 1 year, as the only technical artist assigned to the project by the game engine department he was in of ChangYou.com ltd (NASDAQ: CYOU), a leading online game developer and operator in China. There he improved significantly his intuition in visual aesthetics and visual art skills and utilized them efficiently in his assistance to the artist group before coming to the U.S. to pursue his further study in a 3 years graduate program.

Recently he graduated with a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in Interactive Media from the Interactive Media and Games Division at USC School of Cinematic Arts. His MFA and on-going Oculus Virtual-Reality thesis project is titled the Last Martelé, a violin educational simulator with the innovative interaction inspired by his perspective in the analogy between the VR gesture and the string instrument bowing. On the other hand, he will continue his research in computer technologies and Human-Computer Interaction in the future.
